First Day

Today I had my first real day at Michaels. I scanned tags almost the whole shift, which was fine, and learned a few things. I guess most of these people think I don't have a retail background (which I have an extra large retail background) because I feel like they assume I don't know anything about the business. Also, I've worked for Michaels before. haha So it was a little frusterating but I just smiled and went with it. Good employee. Good.

So, I bought some clay while I was at work. I only bought black and white because I wanted to expiriment. I really like it. A lot. I already made 3 little things out of clay and they look great, I think. Pretty freakin' adorable, if I do say so myself. This is what I have come up with so far.

I plan on buying more clay tomorrow because I am enjoying it so much. Also, when I get paid, I plan on buying some actual clay tools so I can really focus on detail.

Anywho, that's all I got to share for now. Look for new listings of my clay works soon. :)

Success!

I finally made multiple sales last week. It felt amazing. I sold a Colbert pendant, a Twilight keychain, some Tobias Funke magnets, and a calla lily pendant (to prettypanda).

Today I worked on and sold a custom order. It was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pendant for a 5 year old girl's birthday. Her loving grandma bought it for her. I'm so excited for how it turned out (see picture to the left)! I think she's going to love it. :) I really hope she does. :D

So, now I'm working on some new pendants and keychains and maybe some magnets. So far, I have a new Colbert keychain, a Stewart-Colbert 2012 keychain, and a really nice new calla lily pendant. I have more stuff to list but I was so busy today. I just didn't want to take pictures. haha

Anywho, hope everyone had a nice weekend. Tomorrow is Monday and I'm not looking forward to it. :)

I got the job!

Yes! You read that correctly! I got the job! :) I probably start officially next week some time. DISCOUNTS and MORE MONEY. Finally. Things are really starting to look up for me. :)

I also made another sale last night. Someone bought a Twilight logo keychain with a really great key charm attached to it. VERY excited. I'm so inspired to make more and do better. Really makes a person feel good to refresh a shop page and see that something has sold. Really good.

I received my aanraku bails yesterday. I love them. They really make those hand painted pendants look amazing. Really gives my art a whole different look that I really love. It's too bad they are so expensive. hahaha I did get a really awesome deal on these. I'll have to keep buying them from the same place.

So, a wonderful shop owner started to list her friends/favorites on her etsy page. Her username is prettypanda and she's just about the sweetest, most wonderful Etsian I've met. She sells really beautiful scarves and beautiful jewelry. Her packaging is amazing also. Please go check her out, she's so wonderful. http://prettypanda.etsy.com

Anywho! That's all for now!

Oh Happy Day!

I may have scored my job at Michael's. I had my interview today. The manager really likes me. I just hope I'm able to be rehired. haha 25% discount! YES! :D

I've been painting! I'm looking forward to my aanraku bails! I'm so ready for them. I have 6 tiny pieces of art waiting to be stuck to a pendant. :) The picture to the left is a little sneak of what is coming to my Etsy shop. :) Trees, flowers, grapes, abstract stuff. Cliche, but hey, it's something, right? And ya know... even if it is cliche, it's still one of a kind and still completely my own. No one else can paint what I paint. haha

Anywho, I'm going to celebrate by applying to some state jobs now. Wish me luck!

Great Weekend

I had a great weekend spent with my sweet boyfriend Ian. We sat inside and watched ridiculously horrible movies. :) It was amazing.

It was a nice break from constantly creating new things to post on etsy, but now I think I've come up with a few new good ideas. I've started to hand paint some pictures onto wood tiles. I'm wondering if they will do any better than the prints.

I've also ordered some aanraku bails from etsy. They are being shipped tomorrow. I'm pretty stoked about this because I'm beginning to think maybe that people don't like the idea of my "hand drilling" through the pendants. I like how it looks. I think it's modern. But maybe it's distracting. Hmm.

Anywho. Back to the artsy grind. :D

Key Chains and Fun

So, I'm working on my key chains since my mother was so nice and to "donate" to my cause. I'm probably going to remake everything I've already made (not including the flowers) and put them all on key chains. I might even make a semi-large purchase of aanraku bails. I want them. I need them. I think people don't like having their stuff drilled into. (I don't know. I like it. haha)

I've also started working on magnets. Appeal to the masses, right? Right. We'll see how that goes, as well. :)

Coolest Mom Ever

I really have just about the coolest mom ever. She just bought me $40 worth of stuff to help me get my key chains in the works. :) I'm pretty stoked. I think I will work on a friend's key chain first and then maybe start to make some other. Although... maybe I should experiment a little. :D

AH! I also may have scored a job at Michael's Arts and Crafts because I've been shopping there so often. That would be amazing! Discounts and more money! :) The manager said to apply and he would see if I was able to be rehired. (Since I've worked for this company before.)

Lots of good things to come, I hope. :)

RIP Billy Mays 2

I finished my Billy Mays pendant and I wore him today at work. I got a few comments about how he will be missed. And yes, he will be. This man could sell a bag of doggy doo doo for $9.99 and we'd buy it. This was a salesman... a pitchman... we could trust. Bah. It's still so crazy and so sad that he is gone for good. I'm keeping his family in my thoughts.

On a lighter note, I made some Harry Potter themed pendants for the newest movie that is coming out. I'm hoping to catch the eyes of someone and maybe they can buy these great pendants. I plan to make more of the badges, but I ended up running out of wood. /sigh Tomorrow is another day.

RIP Billy Mays

I am a big fan of Billy Mays and it's very sad to me that he has passed. So, in remembrance, I have made a Billy Mays pendant and I will be listing it tomorrow or later tonight.

Please keep Billy Mays and his family in your thoughts. He has a very young daughter and an older son. I'm sure they are all going through a lot right now.

Billy Mays, you will be missed.

Running Riot and a Showcase

Today I decided to work on my boyfriend's band's pendants. They didn't ask for any. Nah. I'm just making them for fun/out of boredom. For now, all I've done is make "test" pendants. I plan on adding a little more to the group shot. Not sure what though. Hmm.

I bought a place on the Jewelry Pendant showcase spot on Etsy. I'll be shown on Saturday the 27th of this month. Hopefully it will get me some hearts/sales/views. $7 better get me a little bit of something. If not, well, I guess I won't be doing that again for a while. haha I can't decide what to show as the "main" piece. For now, I have it set for my pink fly pendant. It's a little "edgy" yet still simple. I'm hoping people want edgy/simple.

Whatever though, I guess. :)

Shipping

So, I finally made some shipping labels for when I finally get some orders. I think it's cute. Everything matches. My hand cut business cards, my "thank you" notes, and my shipping labels. It's all so much fun. :) I'm having a great time making all this stuff, even if nothing happen with it.

I'm using my photo of my mom's front yard flower that I use for just about everything.

I know, you can't see my address. That's because I don't need stalkers. :D But here's an idea of what my labels look like on the cute bubble envelopes. :)

Anywho, it's been fun making stuff. Now I should actually consider working on more stuff I can sell.

Until next time. :)
